Thursday, 29th

Kisschasy releases the new single Face Without A Name in stores October 23 though Below Par Records. The single is accompanied by three live tracks recorded at The Annandale in July. Wednesday, 28th

Gersey releases its new EP Eyes Are Wide Tonight in stores October 10 through Inertia. The extended player was recorded with Dean Turner and mixed by Lindsay Gravina at Birdland Studios in August. The band hits the road during October and November in support of the release. Further details »

Seascape Of The Interior has decided to call it a day after struggling to find a new drummer. The members will be continuing their musical pursuits in new projects. The band still has a very limited amount of CDs for sale.

Tuesday, 27th

The Lovetones, before their US tour in October and November, play their last show in Sydney on Friday October 7 at Spectrum. Special guests on the night are Sounds Like Sunset, Matthew Bailey (ex-Paradise Motel), and Belles Will Ring. The band's new album Meditations will be released in the US on October 18 through Tee Pee Records.

Soup aka John Blake has released his new album Beatroot on Invada Records. In support of the 14 track release, he will be performing dates along the east coast in September, October and December. Further details »

Wolfmother releases the new single Mind's Eye on CD and 7 inch vinyl in stores October 16 thru Modular Recordings. The single is the first taste of the band's self-titled debut album, recorded in the US with producer D Sardy, and due out October 30. The Scare has emerged from the studio, after recording with producer DW Norton, and is set to release its new EP Vacuum Irony in stores October 30 through OK!Relax/Inertia Distribution. With a new bass player in way of Wade Keighran, the band is hitting the road in November supporting US outfit, Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower. Tim Rogers returns from a string of acoustic shows in Europe to launch his new double album Dirty Ron / Ghost Songs with band The Temperance Union. The tour kicks off early October with album launches in Sydney and Melbourne, followed a national tour starting late October and winding up early December. Further details »

Red Pheonix - the new project for Doc Neeson of The Angels - releases the single Wavelength instores October 4. The single features three new tracks and a bonus video clip for "Lonely With You". The single is lifted from the band's forthcoming debut album due out shortly.

The Australian Music Prize is a new music industry prize established to promote the health and growth of the local industry. In its inaugural year, The AMP 2005 will accept entries from October 3 through to January 6. In February the entries will be narrowed down to a shortlist of eight, and in March the winner will be announced. The winner will be rewarded with a cash prize of $25,000 as donated by the PPCA. Cog hits the road this October in support of its new single Run. Lifted from the debut album The New Normal, the single features features a live version of the title track as well as the video for My Enemy and comes with bonus limited edition cloth patch. The main support for all shows (except Gravity Games) is Sydney band Grand Fatal. Bam Bam has released its debut EP Pet Hates on Timberyard Records. Fronted by brother and sister Paul and Kristie Montague, Melbourne band Bam Bam formed in 2003 from the ashes of Kristie's old band, Up Kitty. The extended player was recorded with Lindsay Gravina.

Silo has been announced as the support for Garbage's Australian tour. The tour kicks off Wednesday Sept 21 in Canberra and winds up Thursday Sept 29 in Adelaide. In other news the band has a new dummer by way of Scott Bradbury, replacing longtime drummer Martin Crouch. Further details »

Lior hits the road from mid September till mid October for his last Australian tour of the year. The Melbouurne show at the Corner Hotel will see him donate $5 of every ticket sold to the Reach Foundation to help build a school in Mali West Africa. Further details »

Trosfest celebrates the life of the late Toby Smith this Sunday September 18 at the Annandale Hotel, Sydney. Toby was a music industry graphic designer and drummer in bands such as Chinchen, Doradus and Trudysparke. Paying tribute are Sarah McLeod, iOTA, Dappled Cities Fly, The Null Set, Melanie Horsnell, and Mayday with special performances by Huggy, Laura, and Peter Simpson (Dubrovniks). Doors open at 3pm and tickets are $22 through Ticketek or $25 at the door if not sold out prior. All proceeds from the event go to Lifeline.

Tuesday, 13th

Nic Dalton with the Gloomchasers Orchestra launch the album Home Of The Big Regret during early October in Cowra, Morongla and Melbourne. The record is a collaboration between Nic and Lucy Lehmann. Making up the remainder of the Gloomchasers Orchestra is Paul Rigby from The Rectifiers on banjo/mandolin, plus Ben Mason and Lachlan Franklin from The Smallgoods on bass and drums/guitar respectively. Faker hits the road in October and November in support of its new single Hurricane due out October 2 on Capitol/EMI. Sodastream releases its new EP, Take Me With You When You Go, on October 3 out on Trifekta Records. The seven track extended player marks the first time the duo has entirely produced, recorded and mixed a release. The record also features a handful of guest musicians: Marty Brown (Art of Fighting), Matt Bailey (The Paradise Motel), Mal Pinkerton (The Anyones, Andrew McCubbin and the Hope Addicts), Jordon Murray and Thalia Zedek. Jen Cloher and the Endless Sea hit the road in the second half of October as the main support for Ben Lee's east coast tour. Red Riders release their second EP, The Plan A, in stores September 26 through Ivy League Records. The extended player was recorded at Velvet Sound Studios, and mixed by Wayne Connolly. The Meredith Music Festival returns for its fifteenth year for three days in December, Friday Dec 9 to Sunday Dec 11. The first round of acts to be announced are The Avalanches DJ show, Wolfmother, You Am I, Cut Copy, Airbourne, Johnny Idem, Clare Bowditch and The Feeding Set, Architecture In Helsinki, The Mess Hall, The Grates plus internationals Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks, Billy Childish and The Buff Medways, Okkervil River, and The Nextmen. The Silvermine Tapes release their long awaited album A Tenuous Thread in mid-October through Patterns in Static. Recorded over a period of around two years at Big Sound Studios in the scenic Adelaide Hills, the album was actually completed three years ago. The Fangs return to Sydney this weekend to perform their ever last show on Saturday September 10 at The Mandarin Club. Special guests on the night are Degrees K, The Vultures and Andy Calvert. The band is calling it a day due to personal reasons; Chris and Rob will play together in a new project, while Alain is taking time out to return to uni and the creative privacy of a 4-track tape recorder. The band will be giving away free CDs on the night: copies of the debut album, and demos of the second album.
