Homebake organisers have announced the last minute addition of Beau Young to the Hopetoun stage. Also joining the aforementioned stage is Pomomofo, winners of the Homebake Incentive competition. Brand new boutique digital label, Propaganda Recording Company, has released new singles from Pnau, N'fa and Local Knowledge - all available exclusively from iTunes. N'fa's new single Left Right Left (Universal King) is the first taste from his forthcoming solo debut album Cause An Effect. Pnau's track Donnie Darko is a teaser of their forthcoming record. This Is Your Captain Speaking releases its debut album Storyboard in Europe and Asia through Resonant in January 2006. The band is the first Australian signing to the left-field UK label.

Laura Jean launches her new single I'm A Rabbit, I'm A Fox in Melbourne on Thurdsay December 1 at Getrudes, Fitzroy with support Biddy Connor. Out now on Unstable Ape, the single is taken from the forthcoming album Our Swan Song due out March 2006. Included on the single are three non-album tracks.

Wednesday, 23rd

Deloris embark on an east coast tour in early December with US band Okkervil River. The shows will showcase Deloris' new bass player Paco Esuary and new songs from the forthcoming album, being recorded at a farm in the hills of Harkaway, and due for release early 2006. Tamas Wells launch its their new single Valder Fields on Friday November 25 at Gertrudes, Fitzroy with special guest The Crustaceans. The single is lifted from the group's forthcoming second album, due out February 2006 through Popboomerang Records with the support of Arts Victoria. The Camels hit the road this November and December in support of their new single On Top Of The World. The tour will also see the band take its annual Camels By Candlelight event on the road for dates in Brisbane, Coolum, and Ulmarra - in addition to the regular Sydney show. In other news, the group has just finished recording tunes with Lindsay Gravina for for an upcoming documentary on the notorious Maroubra "Bra Boys", due for release early next year. The Brunswick Arts Ball is set to happen Saturday December 3 at the Brunswick Town Hall. The night will feature performances by Bomba, Vardos, burlesque girls The Town Bikes and much more including bellydancers, fire-breathers, sword-swallowers, contortionists, Polynesian dancers, and a "naughty" puppet show. Tuesday, 22nd

Tylea launches her double album Colour Your Insecurities on Saturday December 3 at the Judith Wright Centre Theatre, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. To be undertaken in as a complete piece of work in a theatrical setting, the album launch will feature over a dozen guest musicians. The album was recorded with producer Magoo, except one track which was penned in collaboration with Icelandic producer/co-writer Valgeir Sigurdsson and recorded in his Greenhouse Studio in Rekjavik, Iceland. The double ablum will be released as a limited edition art-book featuring 60 original illustrations by Tylea.

Princess One Point Five aka Sarah-Jane Wentzki caps off 2005 with two final shows for the year: Fri Nov 25 @ The Empress Hotel, North Fitzroy w/ Dust; Friday Dec 2 @ The Rob Roy, Fitzroy, w/ Aviator Lane and The Wintership. Sarah recently won the music category of Qantas' Spirit of Youth Awards, earning $10000 in cash and travel, plus a mentorship program with Magoo. Sarah will be using the prize to tour nationally and internationally early next year, and record her second album.

The Visitors return to the stage for two shows only in early December: Fri Dec 9 @ Northern Star Hotel, Newcastle; Sat Dec 10 @ Gaelic Club, Sydney w/ The Survivors. These shows will feature three of the founding members - Deniz Tek, Pip Hoyle and Mark Sisto - plus Art and Steve Godoy (The Exploding Fuck Dolls) on bass and drums. The reformation shows coincide with the band's material being re-released on Citadel Records in an updated package containing extensive liner notes and exclusive artwork.

Aviator Lane tours Melbourne for the second time with a run of dates in early December: Fri Dec 2 @ Rob Roy w/ The Winter Ship, Princess One Point Five & Misty; Sat Dec 3 @ The Empress w/ Henry Wagons, Dane Tacquet; Tue Dec 6 @ The Old Bar w/ Okkervil River (USA) & Sime Nugent. While in town the band will continue recording a second mini-album, which is near completion and should be released in March/April next year.

The Thaw launches its debut EP on Saturday November 26 at Club 199 - 199 Castlereagh St, Sydney. Also playing on the night will be Pure Evil Trio, Piano Get Small and Mo' Money Hustlerz, with the order of play to be decided on the night. The John Butler Trio release Live At St. Gallen, a special and limited edition CD with bonus DVD, in stores December 5. The double CD captures the band's performance live at the St. Gallen Open Air Music Festival in Switzerland; while the bonus DVD is of the performance and interview for The Max Sessions recorded live at The Sydney Opera House in 2004. The Scare embarks on its first headline tour, in support of its new EP Vacuum Irony, from late November to mid December. Tuesday, 15th

Jane vs World launches its new single B-Grade Lisa Loeb in Melbourne on Thursday November 24 at the Rob Roy Hotel. Supports on the night will be Go You Huskies! and Sydney outfit The Crustaceans. The single is the first release off the forthcoming EP 56k Hearts, due for release early 2006 on Popboomerang Records.

British India launches its debut album The Counter Culture on Friday November 19 at Ding Dong Lounge, Melbourne. Supports on the night are Kids From Russia and The Fragments. The album was recorded with Harry Vanda, and is released in stores November 21 on Flashpoint Music through Shock. December sees the band performing at the Meredith Music Festival, The Pyramid Rock Festival, and Homebake.

Damn Arms tour Sydney and Brisbane this weekend in support their debut EP Patterns out now on Unikron Records, an ofshot label for Timberyard Records. The band performs: Friday Nov 18 @ Candy's Apartment, Sydney w/ The Pharaohs, The Valentinos and Teenagers In Tokyo; Saturday Nov 19 @ Ric's, Brisbane w/ ON/OX.

The Bites having called it a day play their farewell show on Saturday December 3 at The Tote, Melbourne. Supports on the night are Batrider, Panel Of Judges, and guest DJs. The band will also celebrate its dissolution by releasing This Is A Full Stop - a collection of unreleased songs and a couple of low-budget promo videos. Out on the band's own label Dusky Sounds, the release will be packaged in a limited edition hand-printed cardboard sleeve.

Thursday, 10th

Riff Random launches its long awaited debut album In Space There Is No Sound at the Corner Hotel, Melbourne on Saturday November 19. Supports on the night are Cut Copy (DJ set), Love Of Diagrams, Hate Rock Trio, and Children Collide. The show will also feature Riff Random's new bass Dr Karl Bartl, formerly of The Morning After Girls. The album is released November 14 through Timberyard Records via Shock.

The Fragments have signed with new Melbourne based label Orchestrated Noise, which will be releasing the band's debut album early to mid next year. The first radio single from the album is "Merry Xmas 1984". In support of the aforementioned single, the band hits the road during November for shows in Sydney, Newcastle and Melbourne. Soap Star Joe, after calling it a day back in July 2004, finally play their farewall show on Saturday November 26 at the Hopetoun Hotel, Sydney. Supports on the night are Lazy Susan, Sam Shinazzi, and Bruno from Peabody playing solo between acts.

Meredith Festival organsisers have announced the final round of acts for this year's sold out festival. Joining the line-up are The Hoodangers, Legends of Motorsport, The Young Professionals, and True Live. Princess One Point Five aka Sarah-Jane Wentzki has won the music category of SOYA 2005. Her is prize is a mentorship with engineer and producer Magoo, along with $5000 in cash and $5000 in travel. The Valentinos release their debut EP in stores November 21 through Silent Partner Recordings. Jen Cloher embarks on a run of headline dates during November in Sydney, Bulli and Melbourne. Jen's debut album Dead Wood Falls is scheduled for release in February 2006. The record was produced by Paul McKercher and features a line up of guest musicians including Mia Dyson, Charlie Owen and Bic Runga. Further details »

Youth Group returns from an extensive overseas tour to play two last shows for the year in Sydney and Melbourne during November: Friday Nov 11 @ Annandale Hotel, Sydney w/ Josh Pyke & Skullsquadron; Fri Nov 18 @ Corner Hotel, Melbourne w/ Bit By Bats & The Vandas. Next year sees the band hit the road as part of Big Day Out 2006 and following that join Coldplay as special guests on their Australian tour in June.

Everything Takes Forever, the second compilation album from Melbourne abstract hip-hop/beats collective, Symbiotic, will be launched in Melbourne at The Spanish Club, Fitzroy on Saturday November 26. The night will feature Curse Ov Dialect, MKB, plus a special Symbiotic line-up to perform tracks from the compilation live. The twenty track compilation features tracks from Curse Ov Dialect, Pasobionic, TZU's Yeroc, Carbon, Music Vs. Physics' Beatrix and 3rd Dek, Terminal Sound System, and more.

Wednesday, 2nd

Tugboat launches its new album Two Schools Of Thought on Saturday November 12 at the Empress Hotel, Melbourne joined by The Cannanes and Grand Salvo. The album was recorded over a twelve month period with Simon Knight, before being handed over to Richard Andrew who remixed the record and put it out on his own Pharmacy Records. Since recording the album, the band has been joined by new guitarist Steve Wheeler from Heligoland.

Big Day Out organisers have announced the Sydney event in 2006 has sold out in record time after a mere two weeks. To attempt to create a level paying field the organisers have held aside 5000 tickets, which will be released in batchs of 500 tickets each week for 10 weeks only, starting this Thursday November 3rd at 9pm. These tickets are only available from www.bigdayout.com and will be limited to two per customer.

The Girls From The Clouds is the new project for Jodi Phillis and Trish Young, both former members of The Clouds. The duo has recorded a five track EP titled Lalalala due in stores Monday November 14 out on Candle Records. Candle Records releases its very first DVD, featuring footage from the label's 10th birthday concerts, in stores Monday 7. Recorded at the Brisbane concert held at The Zoo in February, the DVD features 55 songs with performances from Darren Hanlon, The Lucksmiths, Anthony Atkinson, Jodi Phillis, Ruck Rover, The Guild League and The Small Knives.
