Monday, 29th

Wolfmother hits the road this December for an east coast tour including dates in Hobart. January will see the band touring WA for the first time as part of the Southbound Music Festival in Bussleton, and joining the national Big Day Out. The Mess Hall has finished recorded its debut album, titled Notes From A Ceiling. The recording is the first featuring the new and stable line up of Jed Kurzel and Cec Condon - who also drums in The Tremors. The first single is due mid-January, but before then the band hits the stage for a special Yuletide performance on Friday December 17 at the Annandale.

Blacklevel Embassy, Cockfight Shootout, Kamikaze Trio and Legends of Motorsport hit the road together this December and January for an east coast tour. There is no set headliner, so running order will be determined on the night. Further details »

Tuesday, 23rd

Alex Jarvis launches his debut EP, Luxury And Denial, on Friday November 26 at the Empress Hotel, North Fitzroy. This will also be the debut performance for Alex, who to celebrate the occassion, has put together a band featuring: James Dixon, Chris Smith, Richard Andrew. Special guests on the night are The Tranquilizers and Sarah-Jane Wentzki (I Want A Hovercraft). The extended player is released on Pharmacy Records.

The Crustaceans launches its new record, The Early Crustaceous Period, on Wednesday November 24 at the The Hopetoun, Surry Hills. Supports on the night will be Her Name In Lights and Derwent River Star. The record compiles the band's first five self-released EPs, four newly recorded songs and a Nirvana cover recorded for the FBi 94.5FM tribute earlier this year.

Tobias Cummings launches his new EP, You Incomplete Me, on Saturday November 27 at The Empress, North Fitzroy. He will be joined by special guests Diving Bell and Sophie Koh. The extended player is out this week on In-Fidelity Recordings.

St Kilda Festival organisers have announced the event for 2005, happening Sunday February 13. In the four days leading up to the main day, kicking off February Wednesday February 9, there will be live music and other cultural events. For further info visit www.stkildafestival.com.au

Friday, 19th

The Morning After Girls releases its second EP in January on Fly Music. The self-titled extended player features six tracks, including a vocal contribution from Mark Gardener of UK band Ride, and several film clips.

Castings tours Melbourne and Adelaide this December to promote its new EP, Uh Lotta Ukulele, and forthcoming split 7" with Melbourne's II to be released on Steady Cam Records as part of the Background Frequencies Series. Further details »

Paper Tiger heads east for its first tour of Melbourne in late November. The Adelaide indie pop band will be performing: Friday Nov 19 @ Pony w/ The Hovercrafts, The Zebras and The Sound Platform; Saturday Nov 20 @ The Vic, Brunswick w/ The Guild League and Tugboat. The band's debut EP, While You Are Gone, is out now through Patterns In Static. The band will also be featured as one of Triple J's Next Crop artists as part of Aus Music Month throughout the day of Friday November 26.

The Porkers hits the road for a run of dates in support of its new EP, Now Hear This, out now on Sound System. Late February will see the release of the live album, The Porkers live at Nakanoshima, record during the band's Japan tour last May. Further details »

The Flairz released its debut self-titled EP this week, through its own label Lefroy Records, distributed via MGM. The new three piece is from Fremantle WA, and all three members are only eleven years old. No tour dates have been announced, but the young group has been confirmed for the St Kilda Festival in Melbourne in 2005.

FReeZACentral undertakes its 2004 Victorian all-ages tour this November and December with shows in Queenscliff, Ballarat, Camberwell and Wodonga. The all ages, drug and alcohol-free events will feature performances by artists including: The Spazzys, Antiskeptic, Blue Line Medic, 28 Days. Vegas Kings heads into Brisbane's Psi-Fi studios in December to record its new album. The record will be engineered by Loki Lockwood, and produced by Chet Weise from overseas band The Immortal Lee County Killers. Before then, the band plays some more gigs, and makes an appearance at Adelaide's Fuse Festival. Further details »

Friday, 12th

Head Filled Attraction is launching its debut EP, Against The World, on Saturday November 27 at the Rosemount Hotel, Perth. The extended player was recorded with Scarface Sound in Morley, and mastered by Aidan Barton of Pathogen at Sovereign Studios.

BugGiRL has released its debut album, Looming Shadows, on Big Wig Records distributed by MGM. The record was produced by Richie Lewis from Tumbleweed. The band will be performing an extensive run of dates this November and December. Further details »

Thursday, 11th

Andrew Morris, former member of defunct Brisbane band Paladium, has released his first solo album, Little By Little. The album was recorded at the the home studio of Bernard Fanning, who helped co-produce the record. In support of the release, Andrew will be performing launches in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Nunchukka Superfly hits the road this November and December in support of its new album, III, in stores now. The tour will take in dates along the east coast. Further details »

Flow Dynamics aka Dave McKinney is set to release his first batch of tunes in the way of a 12" single, due out early 2005, featuring the tracks 'Live in the Mix' and 'Better on Stage'. It will be released on Freestyle Records in UK/Europe/Japan, and Invada Records in Australia.

Wednesday, 10th

Big Day Out organisers have announced the second round of acts for the 2005 festival. Joining the bill are Regurgitator, Spiderbait, Decoder Ring, DJ Bexta, Wolfmother, Hilltop Hoods; plus internationals Carl Cox, Slipknot, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Atmosphere, Hatebreed, The Hives, Scribe, Le Tigre, The D4, Deceptikonz, The Polyphonic Spree, Kid 606. Wicked Beat Sound System releases its new EP, PRE4ORM, November 15 through its own label Wicked Beat Records, distributed by Inertia. The extended player is the first taste of the forthcoming album, 4ORM, due out February 2005. In support of the release, the band hits the road this November and December.

Monday, 8th

Caustic Soda is doing a one off reunion show on Friday December 24, Chistmas Eve at the Arthouse, Melbourne. The reunion is due to bass player Jeremy briefly returning to Australia from Japan. Supports will be Away From Now and Death In The Family.

The Sinking Citizenship hits the road this November performing: Thurs 11 Nov @ The Hopetoun, Sydney w/ The Ross Orbit Stack; Sat 13 Nov @ The Old Bar, Melbourne w/ The Kamikaze Trio. The dates are in support of the band's debut album, Broadcasting Germs, available now on UXB Recordings, distributed by MGM.

Cog is currently recording its debut album with Sylvia Massy at Radio Star Studios in Weed, Calfornia. The album is to be released early 2005 on Difrnt Music, the new label for ex-Universal head honcho Paul Krige, for which the band is the first signing. Architecture In Helsinki hits the road from late November to mid December in support of its new single, Do The Whirlwind. Support for most dates will be New Buffalo.
