Wednesday, 8th

Shuriken releases its new EP, Bukkake Riot, on Brisbane label Soundmalfunction. The group will be launching the record at Dancetaria Palladium, part of the Straight Out of Brisbane festival, on Friday December 10 at SOOB Festival Club - 30 Misterton St, Fortitude Valley. This will be followed by east coast tour in February.

Gaslight Radio launches its new single, One Kid, on Saturday December 18 at the Rob Roy, Fitzroy. Supports will be The Fragments and Alex Jervis. February of next year will see the release of the band's most recent album, Z Nation, in the UK on SRD. This will be followed a tour of the UK in March.

Minimum Chips releases its new EP, Sound Asleep, on Brisbane label Soundmalfunction. The band is launching the extended player at Dancetaria Palladium, part of the Straight Out of Brisbane festival, on Friday December 10 at SOOB Festival Club - 30 Misterton St, Fortitude Valley. Mach Pelican, Sin City and The Drones return to their old stomping grounds of Perth for four special shows in mid-December. All three bands are currently located in Melbourne. Further details »

The Dirty Three performs two rare shows in Sydney and Victoria this summer: Saturday 11th Dec @ Meredith Music Festival, Victoria (sold out); Thursday January 13 @ Sydney Festival, Hyde Park Barracks w/ Loene Carmen. The band is also to commence work on its next album at the Phillip Island beach house of Mick Turner, where much of the pre-production for the band's most recent album release was undertaken. The results of these sessions will not appear until the last half of the year.

The Waifs hits the road from January through out till March in support of its new double live album, A Brief History, out now on Jarrah Records. The live album features recordings ranging from 1997 to recent performances. The later half of 2005 will see the release of the band's new studio album. Further details »

Ground Floor, Into The Red, Matte Black, Citizens Arrest and The Blind Syndicate perform an all ages show on Saturday December 11 at OLGC School Hall - corner of Whitehorse and Deepdene Rds, Balwyn, Melbourne. The drug and alcohol free event runs from 7:30 till 11pm, and entry is $5.

Man Bites God performs a rare show, presenting a selection of the songs in a very special piano-based set, on Saturday December 11 at the Empress, North Fitzroy. The show sees the band revisting its 2003 Melbourne Fringe Festival performance, where the members swapped their usual guitar, bass and drums lineup for a piano and double bass. The night will also mark the debut performance for the support band, The Weekend People, which is made up of Mark Woodward (Man Bites God) on guitar, Nick de Zilwa (Elmore) on piano. Rob Clarkson is also supporting on the night.

Tuesday, 7th

Candle Records celebrates ten years with a series of showcase concerts in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne during February. The concerts will feature the line-up of Darren Hanlon, The Lucksmiths, Jodi Phillis, Anthony Atkinson, The Guild League, The Small Knives and Ruck Rover. Further details »

Radio Birdman plays a select run of shows in NSW and Queensland this coming January. The band has undergone a slight line-up change with the departure of drummer Ron Keely, who has been replaced by Nik Keith - past member of New Christs and Deniz Tek Group. Now that the members all reside in Australia, the group is busy writing and rehearsing for a long awaited follow up its classic 1981 album, 'Living Eyes'. Further details »

Regurgitator continues to tour in support of its new album, Mishmash, out now on Valve. The band will be touring right up to early February, including dates in Auckland, and appearing on the national Big Day Out line-up. Cog has announced new tour dates following the cancellation of November's Sydney show. The band's debut album, The New Normal, is currently being mixed, with a slated release date of March 2005. Further details »

Monday, 6th

Front End Loader's live album, recorded at the Annandale earlier this year, has been pushed back to a release in 2005. In the meantime, the band plays its last shows for the year on: Friday Dec 10 @ Arncliffe Hotel w/ The Camels and Minc Jaguar; Saturday Dec 11 @ Gearin Hotel, Katoomba, w/ guests.

The John Butler Trio releases the new single, Something's Gotta Give, this week on Jarrah Records. The single, taken from the now four times platinum album Sunrise Over Sea, features extra tracks including live versions of 'Ocean' and the title track – both recorded at the Hordern Pavilion show in Sydney earlier this year. The band is set to play the Falls Festival and Big Day Out, before touring Europe and America in support of the album's release in those territories.
