Friday, 29th

The Porkers has released its new six track EP, Now Hear This, out now on Sound System records through MGM distribution. In support of the release the group will be hitting the road in November and December. Bodyjar celebrates its first offical Melbourne show with new drummer Shane Wakker on Friday October 29 at the Evelyn Hotel, Fitzroy. Supports will be Blueline Medic and Tiltmeter. The band has just been invited to tour Europe early in 2005, has been busy recording demos for its next LP - from which it will be previewing some new tracks on the night.

The first inaugural Launceston Blues Festival is set to happen on Saturday November 6 at The Saloon Bar, Launceston. The festival will feature: The Detonators, Pete Cornelius & The Devilles, Chubby Rae & The Elevators, Full Tilt Boogie, Jimmy & The Benders, Black & Blues. Meredith Music Festival organisers have announced the final round of acts for this year's festival. Joining the bill are: Dan Kelly and the Alpha Males, Die! Die! Die!, Digger And The Pussycats, The Redsunband, Bass Bin Laden's Ghetto Fabulous Show, Dynamo, The Red Eyes. It all happens Friday December 10 until Sunday 13 at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheature, near Meredith, Victoria. Tickets are on sale now, and will sell out.

The Rob Roy Hotel on Brunswick St, Fitzroy, will stop hosting live music in the immediate future come the end of October - due to a change in owners. To celebrate what was, there will be a huge line-up performing in the back bar on Sunday October 31 featuring: Wagons, The Sinking Citizenship, Gentle Ben & His Sensitive Side, Ground Components, The Smallgoods, The Stabs, Dr Invisiablo, Ninetynine, Flesh vs Venom, Das Butcher, Jess McAvoy, Qua, Emily Ulman and Royalchord. Doors open midday and entry is only $10.

Regurgitator's new album, Mishmash, is to be released November 15 on Valve Records. Once the band returns from Hong Kong, it will hit the road this November for a national tour. The album was recorded over 21 days with producer Magoo and engineer Hugh, in a plastic bubble in Melbourne's Federation Square. Further details »

The Cops hit the road once again, this time for an east coast tour this November. Special guests for the tour will be fellow Sydney bands Red Riders and Todd Sparrow. The group's debut long player, Stomp on Tripwires, is out now. Further details »

Icecream Hands launches its new double set CD, You Can Ride My Bike, in Melbourne on Friday November 5 at The Evelyn Hotel. Special guests on the night are Ruck Rover and Tim Reid. The first disc contains all the band's singles, while the second compiles all the non-album b-sides. The band also launches the record in Sydney on Friday November 26 at The Vanguard, Newtown.

Cipher ventures out of Brisbane in mid-November for an east coast tour. The tour which takes in shows in VIC, ACT and NSW, will be to promote the first single, Clone, from the band's second EP, Insignificant Other. A music video for the single will also be released to TV to coincide with the tour. The extended player was recorded by Jeff Lovejoy at BlackBox Recording in Brisbane and mastered by Steve Smart at Studios 301 in Sydney and is distributed nationally by MGM. Further details »

Tuesday, 26th

Fort hits the road this November and December in support of its new release, Never Comin' Down, out now on Chatterbox Records. The release features three brand new tracks recorded at Rockinghorse Studios, along with four tracks recorded live at Byron Bay’s Great Northern Hotel. Further details »

Big Heavy Stuff, Smudge and Sounds Like Sunset play a benefit for 2SER FM on Sunday November 14 at The Annandale Hotel, Sydney. There will also be 2SER DJs Berko (Static) and Leigh (Osmosis) spinng discs on the night. Doors open 6pm, and entry is only $10 or $5 for 2SER subscribers.

Brace undertakes a Wednesday night residency this November, at the Excelsior Hotel, Surry Hills. The four week residency will have a different surprise each week, be it via guest performers such as Jason Brown (Sunk Loto) and Dan Sutherland (Switchkicker/MM9), acoustic renditions of their songs, cover versions and more. FBi 94.5FM presents Stolen Records is a hip hop compilation put out by Sydney community radio, FBi 94.5FM - the first in what is hoped to be a long line of compilations. The record will be launched on Friday November 5 at Candy's Apartment, Kings Cross with performances from: Bliss N Eso, Bass Elefant feat. Urthboy and Ozi Batla, Sleeping Monk & Fame One; plus DJs Regal, Nick Toth and Blaze.

Charles Foster Kane releases its new EP, Better Believe, on Monday November 1 through Funk Folk Records, distributed by MRA. New Buffalo and Deloris undertake a joint album launch in Melbourne on Saturday October 30 at The Corner Hotel, Richmond. New Buffalo's debut album, The Last Beautiful Day, and Deloris' third album, Fake Are Deaths, are in stores now. Special guest will be Adelaide outfit Wolf & Cub - whose debut EP is due out early November on Dot Dash.

The Sinking Citizenship has released its debut album, Broadcasting Germs, on UXB Recordings - the first local act for said label after focussing on licensing overseas releases. The album was recorded by Steve Schram, and completed by Chris Thompson and Jonathan Burnside.

Thursday, 7th

The Rainbow Hotel in Fitzroy, Melbourne, celebrates eleven years of live music this month. October 7 to 17 sees performances from past guests, a display of historical memorabilia and screenings of rare footage of the hundreds of musicians who have performed at the pub. Splendid releases its first new material in almost five years, with an EP set for release on Popboomerang Records in mid November. The extended player will feature six tracks, including a track penned by Angie's Frente cohort Simon Austin. The tracks were produced by Jesse and Angie, with mixes by Victor Van Vugt and J Walker. The Casanovas, having just returned from a tour of Japan, play a run of Australian dates this October and November. The band then tours Indonesia in December, where it has been invited to play the Asian MTV Awards and Soundrenaline - Indonesia's biggest rock festival. Unpaid Debt releases its new EP, Broken Hearts Broken Bones, this week on Chatterbox Records. The six track EP features the song, Verity, which won the band Triple J Unearthed NSW 2004.
