The inaugural Australian V Festival is set to happen in 2007 on Saturday March 31 at Centennial Park in Sydney and Sunday April 1 at Avica Resort, Gold Coast. The first round of acts to be announced are Bumblebeez, The Temper Trap, Mercy Arms; plus internationals Pixies, Pet Shop Boys, Phoenix, Gnarls Barkley, Groove Armada, The Rapture, Soulwax - Nite Versions, 2 Many DJs, and Softlightes. Black Cab launches its second album, Jesus East, in Sydney on Friday December 8 at The Hopetoun Hotel. Special guest MC for the night is Sam Cutler, road manager of the Rolling Stones in the late 60s and early 70s, who also organised and MC'd the infamous Altamont Concert in late 1969, to which Black Cab referenced on its 2004 debut album Altamont Diary. Sam will also be joining the band on a track from the new album, one of only two public performances of his recorded collaboration with the band. Booty is the new band for Fi Claus (ex-Gorgeous) featuring Andy Sylvio from Pete Murray's band The Stonemasons, James O'Brien from The Boat People and Kirsty Joosten from Surrogate Turnip. The band has just completed recording its debut album, Bijoux, and it is soon to be mixed and mastered for a 2007 release.
Adrian Klumpes, a member of both Triosk and Pivot, has released his debut solo album Be Still on the UK based Leaf Label. The long player is distributed locally by Inertia.
The Specimens have signed to Melbourne label Low Transit Industries. The band has just finished work on its new album titled Jazz Brutus and it is set for release in early 2007 with a single & film clip for track Locked Out available in January.

Massappeal has reissued its 1986 album Nobody Likes A Thinker and 1989 album Jazz on Chatterbox Records. The reissue for Nobody Likes A Thinker has been remastered as two disc set featuring 38 tracks including the '87 Fun Again single, plus rare live and demo tracks. It is accompanied by a special 20-page booklet featuring rare photographs and extended liner notes. Wolf & Cub has taken out the music prize for the third annual Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards. For the prize the band received $5000 in cash, $5000 in Qantas flights as well as a mentorship with ARIA award winning engineer and producer Matt Lovell. December will see the band playing at festivals throughout the month, followed by a Japanese tour alongside Wolfmother in January. Sonic Bloom is a new music event happening on Sydney's Northern Beaches on Thursday January 4 at Rat Park (Pittwater Rugby Park), Warriewood. Running from 2pm till 11pm it will feature the line-up of You Am I, Little Birdy, Wolf n Cub, Bliss n Eso, Ash Grunwald, Van She, Goons of Doom, and Unleaded. The inaugural event is running in conjunction with surfing's World Junior Championships, which take place in North Narrabeen in early January. Art of Fighting is set to release its third and as yet untitled album next February through Remote Control Records via Inertia Distribution. The long player was recorded to tape in suburban Melbourne with engineer Steven Schram between April and August 2006, and mixed once again by long time collaborator Tim Whitten.

Golden Plains is a new festival happening March 2007 from the team that puts on Meredith Music Festival.
