Monday, 28th

The Supahip, a side project between Michael Carpenter and Hitchock's Regret's Mark Moldre, has finished mastering its album titled Seize The World. The album features twelve tracks, plus as a bonus, ten of the tracks re-mixed in mono. The album is pencilled in for a mid May release date on Michael's Big Radio Records locally, and in the US through Not Lame.

After The Fall heads into the studio March 31 to begin recording its second album. Once again Richard Stolz will be producing, while Kevin Shirley is coming from NYC to mix the record at Sydney's 301 Studios. Before then, the band heads to the US in mid March for showcases as part of the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas.

Knievel comes out of hybernation this March for its first shows in eighteen months: Tuesday March 1 @ Beach Road Hotel, Bondi w/ Tim Kevin (La Huva, Hoolahan); Saturday March 5 @ Troubadour, Brisbane w/ Halfway. The band have working on new material in their own studio, and singer/songwriter Wayne Connolly has been busy in his role as record producer working on records for Dallas Crane, Youthgroup, Pete Fenton and Dave McCormack in the past year.

Monday, 21st

Gyroscope hits the road this March for an east coast tour, before heading overseas as apart of the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. After touring the band will knuckle down in the studio to record its second album. Further details »

The B-Dolls launch their debut single, Moondust, on Wednesday February 23 at Manchester Lane, Melbourne. The group consists of Matt Thomas and Andrea Vendy, both former members of The Mavis's.

The Spazzys hit the road this February and March in support of their new single, My Boyfriend's Back. The single is taken from the debut album, Aloha! Go Bananas, which will be re-released with a bonus DVD in stores Feb 28. Further details »

Faultline Records label presents a showcase tour of its first quarter 2005 catalogue. Headliners Walk The Earth (featuring ex-members of Superheist and Damaged) will be joined by Five Star Prison Cell (featuring ex-Frankenbok vocalist Adam Glynn) and Sebasrockets. Wednesday, 16th

78 Saab hit the road this February and March for a national tour, culminating in an appearance at the inagural Cockatoo Island Festival. The tour is in support of the band's album of late last year, Crossed Lines. Further details »

What Is Music organisers have relocated the Sydney main event to The Metro Theatre - this means the show is now a over 18 only event, tickets purchased by those under 18 can be refunded. The Wellingtons embark on an east coast tour throughout February to promote the release of their self-titled debut EP. The group performs the following dates: Thursday Feb 17 @ Hopetoun Hotel, Sydney w/ Lazy Suzan; Friday Feb 18 @ Rics Bar, Brisbane w/ The Boat People; Saturday Feb 26 @ The Duke of Windsor, Melbourne w/ The Suits & Ben Birchall.

Riff Random releases its new EP, Low Is High, on Yardbird Recordings this week. Produced by Lindsay Gravina and Ben Lurie, the extended player is the follow up to the band's debut of last year.

Kamikaze Trio releases its debut album, Danger Money, on February 21 through boutique label In-Fidelity Recordings. The album was produced by Paul Mayberry of Rocket Science.

Cockatoo Island Festival promoters have announced the second round of acts for this year's inaugural festival. Joining the line-up is Pete Murray, Hilltop Hoods, Eskimo Joe plus internationals Ernest Raglin, and Cubanismo. The second release tickets are currently on sale, with camping passes almost sold out. John Butler has funded and created an arts grant programme called The JB Seed, designed to explore and encourage the social, cultural and artistic diversity in Australian society. Categories for funding are multicultural arts, indigenous music, social activisism through the arts, music works and professional development, and music marketing. Push Over 2005 is happening Labour Day, Monday March 14 at Luna Park, St Kilda. The day long drug and alcohol-free event will feature performances from The Living End, Gyroscope, Downsyde, After The Fall, The Cops, The Vasco Era, Behind Crimson Eyes, Elf Tranzporter, Ladiesluvhiphop, Solomon Klepto, Criminalistiks, Jezroc, Equills and DJ Onenut. The event also plays host to the Push Start Grand Final with bands competing from all over Victoria. What Is Music, an annual experimental music festival, returns in 2005 even bigger with promoters Paul Curtis (Consume), Ken West (Big Day Out) and John Foy (Red Eye/Black Eye Records) coming on board. Shihad hits the road this February in support of its new EP, Alive, due for release February 14 through Warner Music. The release is the first taste of the band's forthcoming album, Love Is The New Hate, scheduled for release later in the year.
